Instead of driving into the city to drop off only 70 pages of thesis work, I decided to go to the De Young Museum at Golden Gate Park as well. It's down the street from my school. As I do, I got lost trying to find the parking garage. Just once, I'd like to drive somewhere and know where I'm going. But let's be real, I do enjoy getting lost. Once I make a mistake, I learn from it immediately. I got there around noon or so. I didn't eat breakfast so I ate at their cafe. I had a…

11 Things I Learned from Pokémon
Pokémon came out when I was in high school. I wasn't the target audience. But I was drawn to the characters, the monsters that fit in my pocket, and the adventures and hijinks they got into together every day. A cynical person will say that cartoons are meant for kids. But a great cartoon brings joy to anyone who watches it and teaches you something new about yourself. With the surge of popularity - and my devoted attention to the mobile game Pokémon Go - I began to look deeper at the stories the show was trying to tell. I've…

It was a literal ghost town in the Keep. "That's strange." He began asking around to no avail. Finally, he was able to get the slightest hint from Eberts. She worked on a "top secret" project for the Agency and would be unavailable until the…

Slanted Suitcase: Silicon Valley Comic Con 2016
I attended two days of the Silicon Valley Comic-Con, which was also their inaugural celebration. They'd been hyping it for a few months, and I saw electronic billboards on 101 promoting appearances by Jeremy Renner and Stan Lee. It took place in San Jose, so it was a no-brainer for me to attend. Thankfully the library had a 25% discount on general admission tickets, which helped immensely. Overall, this was an excellent first year for the con. My itinerary for Saturday: Spotlight on Jeremy RennerSpotlight on Nathan Fillion There truthfully weren't any other panels I wanted to attend that day.…
Birthday Number Ones
I tracked down the Billboard Hot 100 #1s for the week surrounding my birthday and made a playlist. I can't believe some of the songs that ended up on it because each track fully reminds me of where I was when it was a hit. Slanted Suitcase: Believer Fest 2017 American Dreams
I had the opportunity to attend the opening night festivities of American Dreams: A Festival, hosted by the UNLV's Black Mountain Institute and their newly adopted literary magazine, the Believer. So it was nice to get out of my head for a few hours. Panoramic of Red Rock Canyon I love Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. It's one of my favorite places globally, a little slice of heaven twenty minutes from home. You could be on one side of the canyon and see cars on the Loop but never hear them. As soon as I'm able, I plan to…
