In an effort to get the word out and supporting my local writing community, I’m happy to share this press release from Helen: a literary magazine for my fellow Nevada poets.
Helen: a literary magazine is holding our fourth annual Helen Stewart Poetry Award. Only unpublished poems are eligible for the award. Poets currently living in the state of Nevada may submit up to three poems per entry.
There is an optional $5 entry fee.
Winner of the contest will receive $100 cash prize and publication on our website. Only those who enter the contest and are Nevada state residents will be considered.
All entries will be considered for publication in our web issue.
The judge for our contest is Anna Leahy. She is the author of the poetry collections Aperture and Constituents of Matter and the nonfiction book Tumor and the co-author of Conversing with Cancer and What We Talk about When We Talk about Creative Writing. Her poems and essays have appeared at The Atlantic, Crab Orchard Review, Fifth Wednesday Journal, The Southern Review, The Pinch, and elsewhere, and her essays won the top awards from Ninth Letter and Dogwood in 2016. She directs the MFA program in Creative Writing at Chapman University, where she edits the international poetry journal TAB and curates the Tabula Poetica reading series. See more at www.amleahy.com.
