The Best Year Ever series continues with the best books that I’ve read this year. At my job, I have time to read. Shocking, I know. It gives my eyes a rest, since I’m on a computer all day.
So, I started reading voraciously again.
I noticed a sea change in my reading habits in 2017. I’ve been gravitating towards the stuff that inspired me to become a writer (The Bloody Chamber, and Play It as It Lays), as well as nonfiction (The Rape of Nanking), and poetry (Jimmy’s Blues). I’ve also been amassing loads of nonfiction for my bookshelf at home.
It’s rare that I pick up fiction anymore. I’m pretty sure it’s because I write fiction myself that I give my brain a break and not read it for fun. What an interesting observation.
I hope you enjoy my list. If you do want to check it out for yourself, borrow them from your public library, or purchase a copy of your own via Amazon by clicking the pictures below, and help support Hello Salvation.

Add me on Litsy (I’m writeropolis there as well), and join me on my reading adventures for 2018.
