Evergreen content is a staple in Internet blog promotion.
Evergreen content is content that is always relevant—much like the way evergreen trees retain their leaves all year around. Interesting and relevant content that does not become dated is necessary in order to be found online by search engines.
I always try to stay updated on the freshest ways for blog promotion. Not all of them work for me. I have my own ways of doing this but I am open to what others are doing. Listening to another influencer about what works for their blog is like all good advice: glean what you can, apply it to your own situation, and move onto the next.
That’s my evergreen advice to my fellow influencers too: never stop learning. You should always want to learn and stay up on your game, whatever that might be. If something works, stick with it, remix it, make it your own. If it doesn’t, acknowledge it, learn from it, but move on. Don’t cling to it.
It’s so draining to network though. I want people to read what I have to say here, otherwise, I wouldn’t be saying it. But they won’t know unless I open my big mouth and speak up. It’s like being a little kid in a room full of adults and you’re jumping up and down, screaming for attention but no one is giving you the time of day because everyone has a bunch of shit on their plate and who wants to listen to a little kid anyways? It’s exhausting just thinking about it!
I had a BLAST going back and revisiting the posts that I found to be the most popular this past year.
I was kind of surprised at what came up too, but it’s a good swatch of who I am as an influencer: movies, mixtapes, writing, poetry, photography, traveling. Y’all have good taste!

I found my most popular posts using Google Analytics. There are several WordPress plugins but none of them were as robust as I wanted them to be. There is some code floating around as well, but it only gave me two posts even though I copy/pasted the code straight from their site. I chose the first twenty posts that had any sort of traction, no matter what year it was originally published. It was fun to revisit, although there were a few pages and posts that I couldn’t put on the list because of the Great Content Purge of 2017. It did hamper my research a bit.
I then made the graphics for them in Photoshop. There is something so soothing to me when it comes to web design. I can’t explain it. I put my music on and get creative. Granted, I used PSDs I purchased through Creative Market many moons ago and simply prettified them the way I wanted. But I had a lot of fun doing it.
As an added bonus, recipients of my monthly love letter Sunshine and Rainbows get ten additional popular posts!
And now to my studio audience: what is the most popular post on your own blog? Were you surprised at what it ended up being? Let me know in the comments!
