Songs on Shuffle

Post 16 of 24

So I am running out of topics but I saved an old blog a day challenge from a few years ago. One of the prompts was to:

put your music player on shuffle and write the first 3 songs that play and what your initial thought is.

  1. Last Time Lover – Spice Girls
  2. Chapel of Love – The Dixie Cups
  3. Beachwood 45789 – Dionne Bromfield

I almost went for the girl group trifecta. Thanks a lot, Dionne. Just kidding. I almost also went with sixties girl group sound. Thanks a lot, Spice Girls. Just kidding.

“Last Time Lover” is probably one of my least favorite songs on the first Spice Girls album. Back in the day when we had to use portable CD players to play our albums (haha, weeps), I would skip “Love Thing ” and “Last Time Lover” to get to “Mama” and the back half of the album.

“Chapel of Love” is a great hook and an irresistible earworm. It definitely gets stuck in my head at the weirdest times.

“Beachwood 45789” is not a favorite of mine from Dionne’s album. Her cover of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” is an instant classic.
