Santa Cruz/Capitola

Sunset at Capitola

So I’ve unofficially failed at NaBloPoMo. I take full responsibility and will try and post enough to catch up. Prepare for the onslaught!

Last week was really hard for me, emotionally. I think that’s why I didn’t blog. I wasn’t motivated. It started fine, just ended messily. I feel much better this week. Agent Carter tonight, whoop whoop.

The only saving grace was that I went on a day trip to Santa Cruz/Capitola with my best friend A last week. It was awesome, to say the least.

The rides were closed but I just wanted to get out of the city for a bit. Luckily it was the week before A went back to school. I drove Highway 17, my first time doing so. It’s a long and winding road so it’s quite scary whether you’re a driver or a passenger. As soon as we could, we opened the windows and breathed in that awesome beach air. I love how the smell changes the closer you get to the ocean. Parking was free. We strolled in, I played some pinball, we played air hockey, and then I tried to win a volleyball from 1 of the crane machines. We had hot dogs for lunch, which was weird because I was craving that for a while. I’m glad I was able to sate my hunger there.

We went to Natural Bridges State Beach after, to see the monarchs. There weren’t a lot but it was nice to go there and exit through the gift shop. I had never been, even though I’ve been going to Santa Cruz since the fourth grade.

Then we went to Capitola. We sat on a bench at the end of the wharf and just shot the shit. I really want to move to this area. I don’t know how I could make it work but I really want to.

Then after, we went to see our other friends T and E. We got to hang with T’s daughter T, who is the spitting image of her mother and is such a chunkster. She was definitely weirded out by A and me, which I suppose is normal if you don’t see a baby enough. They become wary of strangers.

E was sick but she and her husband S sat and chatted with us for a bit. It’s kinda crazy how close we live to each other, and we almost never see each other. I really need to change that.

So after this amazing, super chill trip, I was ready to work. Sometimes that’s all you need to recharge your batteries, a little getaway. Unfortunately, work was a hot mess. We need more folks. Anyone looking for a job? lol

Now my work week has ended, and I’m on my weekend game. I might go shopping. I’ve got some errands to do too. I’m nearly done binge-watching The Tudors. It’s payday this week. I’m so looking forward to that. We get 3 paydays this month. Yess. I love extra paychecks!

Alright, I’m going to quickly blog the other 7 entries.
