“Carson,” said Natasha Darcy leaning forward to kiss Carson Kressley on both cheeks. “How are you darling? I’ve been watching your show on Muggle TV, I’m surprised they haven’t figured out you’re wizards yet.”

Carson smiled slyly, “The network thinks that it’s impossible for either Muggles or Wizards to figure out what we are. Of course if we were Muggles we wouldn’t be able to change a man in one day.”

“Very superstitious, writing’s on the wall/Very superstitious, ladders bout’ to fall/Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin’ glass/Seven years of bad luck, the good things in your past.”

They sat down again in the busy restaurant in London; Carson had flooed over at Natasha’s request. She said she had a proposal for him, and he was intrigued. After ordering their dinner, Carson patiently waited as Natasha turned to him with her most charming smile.

“Quit the sales show Nat, this is me,” said Carson bluntly.

Natasha’s kilowatt smile immediately diminished as she leaned forward and said, “Hogwarts is hosting a fashion show for the Friends of Muggles charity. My daughter’s friend said she’s seen you on Muggle TV and believes you couldn’t possibly be Muggles because you’re too good.”

Carson beamed at the compliment, but he could tell there was more.

“When Anastasia suggested that we ask you to change some of the most difficult men’s wardrobes and lifestyles, I couldn’t help but be curious. Anastasia invited me over and subtly pointed out who needed changing, and Carson, they need the Fab Five desperately,” said Natasha, then slowing down to a whisper so Carson had to strain to hear she said, “Harry Potter’s one of participants.”

“When you believe in things that you don’t understand/Then you suffer/Superstition ain’t the way.”

Carson recoiled back into his seat in shock, “Oh my god!”

Natasha nodded vehemently, and their meal arrived. After a few minutes eating Carson said thoughtfully, “How many participants are there?”

“In total? 20. I handpicked them myself with Anastasia’s help. 10 men though,” she answered.

“Hmm….Well, we’d have to arrive like 2 weeks in advance. When is it?”

“In a week,” said Natasha gulping down some wine before Carson could react.

“And you ask me now?!” he hissed.

“Come on Car, for an old friend?” she said with puppy dog eyes.

Finally Carson relented, “If it wasn’t for the fact that I’ve known you since Beauxbatons I would have said no.”

Natasha smiled brightly at him and he had to smile at her pleasure.

“Very superstitious, wash your face and hands/Rid me of the problem, do all that you can/Keep me in a daydream, keep me goin’ strong/You don’t wanna save me, sad is my song.”

“How’s Alexander?” asked Carson.

“Very well actually, he’s busy painting these days, his last work sold for £10,000,000. Anastasia’s inherited his gift for art, I was terrible at it. Remember that Muggle Art class we took, and I ended up accidentally knocking over every pot of paint and causing mayhem?” asked Natasha wistfully.

“I remember. Are you happy Nat?” asked Carson solemnly.

“Yes for the first time I am Carson, our relationship was rocky at times but I love Alex with all my heart and I couldn’t bear to be without him. Every time I see Anastasia I see parts of him and myself in her, and I think, ‘We made her together, she’s a product of our love’ and I feel really giddy and happy,” said Natasha dreamily.

“Have you considered having more?” asked Carson curiously.

“No, after Anastasia we tried but my body just didn’t seem to want to. But I’m lucky to have her, she’s a bright and very beautiful girl,” said Natasha proudly.

The cheque came and after some squabbling Carson paid for both of them.

“Car? Come over sometime. It’d be nice to see you and it’s been so long. You only saw Anastasia when she was a baby and then you went back to America, I missed my best friend,” said Natasha softly.

“I’ll talk it over with the other guys and I’ll get back to you in a few days Nat, heck I’ll make a personal visit!” he said smiling brightly.

“I’ll hold you to that,” she said softly before hugging him tightly.

“When you believe in things that you don’t understand/Then you suffer/Superstition ain’t the way, yeh, yeh.”

He kissed the top of her head and they went their separate ways.

“I can’t believe your mum got the Fab Five to come!!” Meliza said.

“I told you, she bats her eyelashes and everyone drops everything and comes running!” Anastasia said, plunking herself down at the Gryffindor table beside her best friend during breakfast. “I think that’s how my parents met too.”

“Ooh, ooh, child/Things are gonna get easier/Ooh, ooh, child/Things’ll get brighter.”

It was now officially Easter holiday and whilst most of the school was still here due to the upcoming exams, still many more were gone. So the usual breaking up of houses according to tables was dismissed for this brief time.

“Harry,” Meliza said coolly. She had eyed him sitting not far from where she had taken a seat with a space for Anastasia.

“Meliza,” Harry said just as coolly. Ron and Hermione looked at him interestedly, but said not another word.

“Ooh, ooh, child/Things are gonna get easier/Ooh, ooh, child/Things’ll get brighter.”

“So tell me more,” Meliza said quickly, changing the subject and grabbing a piece of toast.

“I got an owl yesterday and she said she met with Carson,” Anastasia replied. “The Fab Five were keen on doing it, but since we’re giving them only a week to prepare everyone, they’ll be arriving any time soon.”

“I like Kyan, he’s so pretty,” said Meliza dreamily. “Pass the pumpkin juice will you?”

“Anastasia darling!” chirped a familiar voice. Anastasia grimaced.

“Some day, yeah/We’ll put it together and we’ll get it all done/Some day/When your head is much lighter.”

Her mother Natasha had swung open the door of the Great Hall, flanked by five men in Muggle clothes.

* * *

“Mother!” said Anastasia plastering a surprised smile on her face and yanking Meliza up with her. If she was going to have to face her mother she wouldn’t go down alone.

“Some day, yeah/We’ll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun/Some day/When the world is much brighter.”

The Fab Five stared interestedly around Hogwarts and Jai squealed running up to the very startled High Table. “Oh My God! They have like robes! Carson we’ve been transported back into the Middle Ages!”

Some of the students tittered as Jai was currently pointing at a very disgruntled Potions Master as his girlfriend choked on her pumpkin juice trying not to laugh at Severus’s expression.

“Welcome!” boomed out Dumbledore’s voice as he surveyed the new arrivals warmly.

Natasha Darcy strode forward momentarily ignoring her daughter and said, “Headmaster! So good of you to let us do this at Hogwarts. May I introduce Carson Kressley – Fashion, Kyan Douglas – Grooming, Ted Allen – Food and Wine, Thom Filicia – Design and Jai Rodriguez – Culture.” As she said this each man waved their hand in greeting.

“Ooh, ooh, child/Things are gonna get easier/Ooh, ooh, child/Things’ll get brighter.”

“I’m sure you’re all very tired from your trip, I’ve arranged rooms for all of you, I’m afraid you’ll have to share. Most of the students are away at the moment as you can see, but come join us for dinner,” said Dumbeldore gesturing at the food which with a wave of his wand filled up magically.

“Cool! I can finally use my wand again!” exclaimed Jai excitedly as he plunked himself unceremoniously down beside Hermione who blushed at the comment and began piling food onto his plate. Harry and Ron were laughing their heads off at the comment whilst Jai gave them a strange look, remembered his comment and started laughing with them.

“Thanks for doing this Mrs. Darcy,” said Meliza smiling up at the older woman.

“Ooh, ooh, child/Things are gonna get easier/Ooh, ooh, child/Things’ll get brighter.”

“Oh not at all. Please, call me Natasha. You must be Meliza! Why Anastasia dear, you didn’t tell me how beautiful she was!” exclaimed Natasha in delight, causing Meliza to blush and Anastasia to grit her teeth. She always did this, managing to befriend and charm her friends so they thought her mother was cooler then her. Anastasia tuned out as Meliza and Natasha got into a discussion about clothes and the kinds of hairstyles they were thinking of for the Fashion Show.

The rest of the Fab Five had situated themselves amongst the Gryffindor Table and were chatting animatedly to the Trio. Carson remained quiet as he watched Anastasia slump into her seat.

“She’s not that bad really, she was a lot of fun at school,” said Carson trying to cheer up Anastasia.

“Ooh, ooh, child/Things are gonna get easier/Ooh, ooh, child/Things’ll get brighter.”

“You haven’t had to live with her for 16 years, everyone drops whatever they’re doing as soon as she bats her eyelashes,” said Anastasia bitterly.

“Yeah? Well, that ploy doesn’t work on me. Not much. Unless it’s from a hot guy, and there were some hot guys featured on the show I’d just love to take home,” said Carson dreamily.

Anastasia giggled which made Carson smile, “Only reason I agreed to this is because she’s an old friend and cause hey, biggest coup in the world. I didn’t go to Hogwarts, but your mom sent me tons of letters and told me lots of stories about it,” said Carson between bites of food.

“Some day, yeah/We’ll put it together and we’ll get it all done/Some day/When your head is much lighter.”

“My mum told stories about Hogwarts? I knew she transferred to Hogwarts from Beauxbatons but I didn’t realise that she had friends who didn’t just drop everything for her,” said Anastasia, interested.

“Nat and me go way back from first year. On the first day we complimented each other on our accessories and we never looked back. I was really sad when your grandma took her to Hogwarts, I missed my best friend. And then a couple of years later she got married and had you. I saw you the day you were born but afterwards never got a chance to visit you guys again,” explained Carson. He surveyed Anastasia critically whilst he was talking to her. She had her mother’s looks and Alex’s eyes. Probably had his shyness too which he could remember Natasha telling him about.

Anastasia’s eyes unconsciously flicked to Harry who was talking to Jai animatedly about the differences between Muggle and Wizarding culture. Carson saw her look and leaned forward to say, “He’s not gonna notice till you say something you know.”

“I think we’re past the formalities by now,” said Anastasia depressingly, “It’s just….me and him. Badness ensues when we are together and we’re on shaky ground right now, I don’t wanna rock the boat.”

“Oh…..right. Yeah, I did a little research before I came here, I read yours and Meliza’s interview in the Quibbler. What did your parents say when they found out?” asked Carson curiously.

“Some day, yeah/We’ll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun/Some day/When the world is much brighter.”

“Mum threatened to take me out, but dad and I convinced her I needed to face the problems. And so they sent me to a therapist, who’s cuckoo but very good,” said Anastasia.

“Yeah she sounded it,” said Carson chuckling. Anastasia instantly started to like the man.

“I can’t believe the Fab Five are here!” said Sydney excitedly peering at the men from the High Table. The rest of the table gave her strange looks.

“This is me for forever/One of the lost ones/The one without a name/Without an honest heart as compass.”

“You know these….men?” asked Severus looking distastefully at the one who had pointed at him.

“They’re not a threat to you sweetie, they’re gay!” said Sydney almost hopping with excitement.

“Hey, if they have gay guys dressing the male participants, will they have lesbians dressing the female participants,” wondered Dawn aloud. Everyone who had been drinking or eating anything choked as Dumbeldore laughed merrily.

“Mrs. Darcy hasn’t put that proposition to me yet,” he said, his blue eyes twinkling.

“This is me for forever/One without a name/These lines the last endeavour/To find the missing lifeline.”

“Nuh uh, gay guys have better fashion sense,” said Angel getting even stranger looks from the table. “What? I lived with Lorne and Cordy once said that I had such great taste in clothes, it was a wonder I wasn’t gay.”

Wesley nodded in agreement. “Yes, I distinctly remember being very pissed at you, but you didn’t buy me a new set of expensive clothes to get onto my good side.”

“Nah, but you were kinda whiny and annoying in the old days. Oh wait, so was Cordy,” said Angel with a grin as he ducked a plate of food being thrown at him by Wesley.

“Oh how I wish/For soothing rain/All I wish is to dream again/My loving heart/Lost in the dark/For hope I`d give my everything/Oh how I wish/For soothing rain/Oh how I wish to dream again/Once and for all/And all for once/Nemo my name forevermore.”

“What is gay?” asked Otrere looking around confusedly at the group who all started to chuckle and then pointed to a blushing Willow and Kennedy.

“Will, you wanna demonstrate?” asked Xander as Willow lightly kissed Kennedy. “That is gay.”

“Oh….” said Otrere fascinated by the kiss.

* * *

“Stop!!” Natasha said madly, stamping her foot. “Do it again!”

The twenty chosen participants, Anastasia among them, were practicing their strut down the imaginary catwalk in the Great Hall the next day. They were in Muggle clothes, and the Fab Five were running back and forth doing their best to help out.

“We’re doing this for Muggle awareness people! We mustn’t smile at all!”

Meliza tugged on Anastasia’s arm. “I never thought I’d say this, but you’re right, she is mad.”

Anastasia nodded knowingly. She hated to talk about her mother like that, but when Natasha Darcy was set on something and it didn’t come out the way she pleased, she became a madwoman.

“Music!” Natasha yelled. Jai tapped a Muggle machine nearby with his wand and it began playing thumping Muggle music. “Chin up, shoulders back, don’t smile Harry, good boy…”

“I wonder if I take you home/Would you still be in love baby/Because I need you tonight/I wonder if I take you home/Would you still be on love baby/Because I need you tonight/Ho-home!”

It went on for hours and hours, it seemed like.

No one else was pleased to see dinnertime arrive than the fashion show participants. Natasha worked them to the bone with hardly any breaks. As an extra special treat, Ted snuck into the kitchens (with a little help from Hermione) and helped the house elves conjure up an amazing three-course dinner.

“So I was telling Kyan that you should try to do something with your hair, Severus,” Natasha said. “I know he has some Muggle products to help tame whatever you’ve got going on up there.”

“Very superstitious, nothin’ more to say/Very superstitious, the devil’s on his way/Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin’ glass/Seven years of bad luck, good things in your past.”

Severus looked like a deer caught in the headlights. “Pardon me, Mrs. Darcy?”

“Your hair,” repeated Natasha, exasperated. “It’s so greasy. In fact, it would help the charity immensely if people knew our participants were using Muggle product. The Daily Prophet would have a field day!”

Sydney chuckled and grinned lovingly at him. “I think it looks just fine the way it is.”

Snape looked pained. “Can we please change the subject?”

“When you believe in things that you don’t understand/Then you suffer/Superstition ain’t the way, no, no, no.”

On the other side of the table, Meliza was hanging onto every word of Thom’s lecture on the state of their dormitories to anyone in his general space.

“See, what I was thinking is we can play up the castle theme you’ve got going on, but modernize it a bit,” he explained. “Add some more windows to bring in more light, swatches of Muggle wallpaper in frames to brighten the drabness of your rooms ’cause if you ask me, we all could use some happiness.”

“Ooh, ooh, child/Things are gonna get easier/Ooh, ooh, child/Things’ll get brighter.”

“Gilderoy Lockhart was your Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher?” Carson said, choking on his prime rib.

“Yeah, total nutter that one. Tried using a Memory Charm on me and Harry using my broken wand in second year, ended up giving himself the hex,” Ron said animatedly.

“Oh my god!” Carson cried, trying to gulp down some pumpkin juice, “that man was a fraud. I could see it a mile away.”

“I wish you would’ve said something,” Harry said. “Would’ve saved us a whole lot of trouble.”

“I know, I should’ve,” Carson said. “He’s at St. Mungo’s now right?”

“Yup.”

“Some day, yeah/We’ll put it together and we’ll get it all done/Some day/When your head is much lighter.”

“Sometimes in my dreams, I see things,” Otrere said seriously. Willow, Kennedy, Dawn, and Hermione were listening to her every word. “Of memories that make no sense to me. After slaying a vampire, I sing a song about it.”

Willow eyed Dawn teasingly. “In Sunnydale, Dawn released a demon that made us sing our problems.”

“Hey, it wasn’t completely my fault!” squawked Dawn.

“Yeah it was totally your fault,” Kennedy replied, ruffling her hair.

“But why would I remember something that never happened to me?”

“Buffy,” Dawn said sadly. “She doesn’t want us to forget her. I know she’s inside you, fighting to come back out.”

Otrere frowned. She had already fallen in love with these people as if they were her family, but the body she had become resurrected in wasn’t the right choice. Even though she loved this world, she wanted her own body back and her own memories.

“We’re making headway on the spell to return you to your body, Otrere,” Hermione said supportively.

“Yeah, it won’t be long now, and we can have both you and Buffy here with us!” Willow said happily.

Otrere smiled with Buffy’s smile, but she wondered if there was more to life than what was here.

* * *

Carson gasped as he peeked in Severus’ closet to find only black robes, white shirts and black boots for the entire length of the wardrobe.

“Oh My God! Are you the lovechild of Batman because it looks kinda creepy to have black dresses and white shirts. Do you have NO colour in your wardrobe?” he asked whipping his head round to stare at Severus.

“I do not require more then basic colours for my profession. And they’re not dresses, they’re robes,” said Severus in an irritated voice.

“Hmm,” said Kyan running his fingers experimentally through Severus’s hair. “Oh you definitely need a cut, maybe a rinse as well.”

“Don’t…touch…my….hair,” said Severus through gritted teeth.

“Oh honey, if you wanna come out of this alive you’ll be touched here, there and everywhere” advised Carson, “And he’s way tamer then I am.”

Severus gritted his teeth as Thom looked around the bedroom. “I could swear you were gay, but then uh…your bedroom’s black and dark. Although co-ordinated. We’ll have to do something about this place. I’m thinking some rich reds and dim lighting in here to soften the place up.”

“Red is a Gryffindor colour, and I am the head of Slytherin. It would be outrageous,” said Severus coldly.

“Honey, what would be outrageous was if you let a gal like Sydney go because you couldn’t decorate. Speaking as a gay man, she’s hot! So, if you want to impress and I gather that you haven’t slept with her, you’re going to make some changes. I’m sure she won’t tell,” said Thom smiling at Severus.

“Oooh! Whatever you use on your hair is strong. We’re gonna get you some great products whilst we take you shopping,” said Kyan.

“How are you on manners and talking on a date?” asked Jai looking curiously at Severus.

“I have impeccable manners. I’m a classically trained pianist, dancer and I do know what to talk about on a date,” said Severus stiffly sending a cold glare to Jai who didn’t even bat an eyelid. These men were beginning to try his patience and even for Albus and Sydney he didn’t think he could go through with this.

But he smiled evilly as he thought that they’d be going through the wardrobes and lifestyles of EVERY participant in the fashion show. Their biggest coup and yet they couldn’t broadcast it to the world. They may be wizards, famous ones at that judging by the way most of the returning girls had screamed when they entered were introduced at dinner but he was Severus Snape. He wouldn’t change for anybody, not even Sydney. Much.

“OK, let’s motor guys, we’ve only got one day to change Sev, and we still have the rest of the participants to go. That sweet headmaster said Sev, Angel and Harry were going to be our toughest challenges. So, we’re gonna have to get on and choose new clothes, remodel your home and get you looking pretty,” said Carson leading Severus out.

“I don’t do pretty,” said Severus through gritted teeth.

* * *

“Nadia?”

“Some day, yeah/We’ll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun/Some day/When the world is much brighter.”

Nadia Santos turned around slowly, as if in a dream. Her sister had called her name. After all these years of being in an orphanage, becoming a junior agent, she had a family and they were looking for her. And they found her. “Yes?”

“How are you feeling?” asked Sydney softly. They stood side by side on a catwalk overlooking Hogwarts.

“Overwhelmed,” she replied with a grin. “I didn’t think it was possible that I had a family after all.”

“Believe you me, if I had known you were out there, I would have found you sooner,” Sydney said comfortingly, reaching out to hold her hand. “I had the resources, the time… you’re my sister. I would’ve done anything for you.” They smiled at each other.

“Ooh, ooh, child/Things are gonna be easier/Ooh, ooh, child/Things’ll be brighter.”

“Tell me more about my dad,” Nadia asked immediately. “And our mom.”

Sydney sighed, wondering if she should tell Nadia about Sloane. “Your father’s name is Arvin Sloane.”

“And?” prompted Nadia. She had been debriefed a few days before, but she wanted more.

“Well you remember what I told you about the Alliance right? The Alliance was a series of twelve cells, dedicated to maximizing profits in the black market realms of weapons sales, drug trade and surveillance technology. SD-6 told us it was a ‘black-ops’ division of the CIA, and I believed them. I told Danny – my fiancé at the time – about SD-6, which was a member of the Alliance. Sloane had him murdered.”

“Some day, yeah/We’ll put it together and we’ll get it all done/Some day/When your head is much lighter.”

Nadia gasped. Sydney hadn’t debriefed her fully on her parents, but she needed to know. She had to know.

“So then I went to the real CIA to bring Sloane and SD-6 down. And I did, over three years ago. But it came at a price. Sloane managed to get away, and he’s been pursuing you ever since.”

Nadia’s heart was beating with adrenaline. “I don’t want to see him, ever. If my father… if my father is capable of such evil, I won’t see him.”

“Some day, yeah/We’ll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun/Some day/When the world is much brighter.”

Sydney shook her head. “I’m not saying this because I feel any compassion for Sloane, but if the time came, maybe you should. I mean, that’s my personal experience with him. Maybe because you’re biologically related to him, he’ll go easier on you.”

“I doubt that Sydney. If he can murder your fiance without a second thought to the repercussions of it, then who’s to say he wouldn’t betray me in a heartbeat?”

“If that’s your decision,” Sydney said. Things were different now. Sydney was related to Sloane somewhat and even though that didn’t take away the hate that she felt for him, he deserved his chance to explain himself.

“Some day/We’ll get it together and we’ll get it all done/Some day/When your head is much lighter.”

“And our mother, Irina?”

“Irina Derevko was a deep cover Russian secret agent sent to seduce my father and trick him into spilling secrets. They married, and they had me. When her superiors called her back to the Soviet Union, she faked her death,” Sydney explained. “For the longest time, my dad let me think that she died in a car crash without telling me she was actually a spy.”

“And she died in the car crash because of me, right?”

“Yeah. She was a few months pregnant with you. Her superiors thought it best that she just go back. You were born in St. Petersburg.”

“You haven’t seen her since?”

“Some day/We’ll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun/Some day/When the world is much br /ighter.”

“No, I haven’t seen her for over three years. I’ve read the reports my dad has written, and she’s contacted him and vice versa, but that’s about it,” Sydney sighed heavily. “I wish I could see her again.”

“I wonder if she’s looking for me,” Nadia said.

“She’ll be hard-pressed to get anywhere near you. Hogsmeade and Hogwarts is protected against Muggle electronic devices,” Sydney replied. “Satellite imagery and surveillance photos would just show an empty field.”

They lapsed into a comfortable silence.

“Ooh, ooh, child/Things are gonna get easier/Ooh, ooh, child/Things’ll get brighter.”

“We have to get that book back” said Wesley adamantly as he paced around the Shack. The whole group, which had grown considerably since the trip to Brazil was sitting around the Shack trying to find a solution to get the Book back before compromising Dawn.

“I will not let him hurt Dawn!” said Otrere fiercely, to which Dawn smiled warmly. Otrere found she was becoming increasingly protective towards the girl.

“I know Otrere” said Wesley exasperated, “but we have no intel on Malfoy.”

“My flower, withered between/The pages 2 and 3/The once and forever bloom gone with my sins.”

“But we have plenty of intel on Sark,” chipped in Sydney. All eyes turned to her, “Maybe if I follow him around for a bit then he’d eventually go to Malfoy’s house and I can strategise how to get the book back.”

“Nuh uh, the Manor’s unplottable,” said Xander shaking his head.

“How do you know?” asked Harry surprised.

“I got talking to Draco. Sweet kid, a little nasty, reminds me of Cordy,” said Xander smiling dreamily of his ex.

Harry and Ron glared at him. “I’ve never heard Malfoy and the word sweet in the same sentence,” said Ron heatedly.

“Have you ever given him a chance? I’m not likely to trust my life to him sure, but he’s an OK guy,” said Xander wisely.

“OK, you keep talking to Draco and see what you can find about the Manor. I want booby-traps, ways to get in and out. The whole shebang,” said Sydney. Xander nodded at her. “I think I may have figured out a way to get into Malfoy Manor,” she said.”But it all depends on one person.”

“Walk the dark path/Sleep with angels/Call the past for help/Touch me with your love/And reveal to me my true name.”

“NO! Absolutely not!” shouted Severus as Sydney approached him with the idea later in his rooms.

“But Sev, we need that book! Do you want Voldemort to be The Channeler of all Magic? If you think he’s bad now, think how bad he’ll be when he has that much power. We’re trying to prevent that happening, and you’re not helping!” said Sydney frustrated.

Taking a deep breath before sitting down Severus said in a much softer voice, “I know you’re good at your job. Very good, but I can’t risk it. You don’t know what he’s like.”

“On the contrary. I’ve met the bastard, and I’ve known his son for years, I know exactly what he’s like,” said Sydney heatedly. “At least this way I have a way to get in and out safely. Please Severus.”

“Nemo sailing home/Nemo letting go.”

Sighing defeatedly he said, “If you weren’t so damned stubborn I could have left it, but you can’t so at least I’ll be there this time. OK, fine. I wouldn’t have gone ordinarily, but fine. Lucius invites me to a ball every year, and I go some years and some I don’t. He’ll be more then delighted to think I’ve brought you to our side if I bring you. Just let me do the talking and go when I say to. Oh, and you’ll have to get dress robes. I’ll take you shopping.”

Sydney kissed him lightly, the fire dancing in her eyes.

“Oh, how I wish…”

“Thanks Sev.”
